Debuted since May 26th last year and haven’t got a proper break. ‘Boyfriend’ ‘Don’t Touch My Girl’ ‘I’ll Be There’ etc, releasing singles one after another and continuing their schedule even up till Chuseok (Thanksgiving) Day. Sometimes there are also days where they don’t even step their foot to their dorm. Willing to have a minute of sleep in moving cars or waiting rooms when they could enjoy themselves.

But their hard works paid off, by receiving the Golden Disk rookie awards that they deserved, poured with love calls from advertisement agencies. The most anticipated group this year ‘Boyfriend(Donghyun, Hyunseong, Jeongmin, Youngmin, Kwangmin, Minwoo)’ keeping in mind that they want to go beyond Korea and go overseas.

“Like other idol groups which literally want to be the stars in the sky and our team ‘Boyfriend’ is strongly expected to be somewhat like a boyfriend. We want to be able to be more intimate and friendly.”

‘Boyfriend’ is a name given to 6 members that girls want in a boyfriend.

Leader Donghyun is the best older brother that can lead well, like a man. The first impression, it’s like when you feel cold and he’d be the first person you search for.

Kwangmin is 4-Dimensional. Pure but has a silly side as another charm.

Minwoo is the youngest in the team but the oldest in the oldest at home. Member’s so-called ‘adult-kid’. Caring and a sweet type of boyfriend.

A strong competitor, Youngmin who takes a competition seriously and can develop skills himself. Smiles to the people around him to be positive.

Acting-fine Jeongmin who has a pleasant style. Has a friendly personality that people can reach to.

A real-man Hyunseong. Everywhere, because of his naturally modest character, he is easy to approach.

“When the company gave us our name, we’re supposed live up to it as boyfriend. We’re trying to make it happen.”

6 out of 6 colors with different charms, they are thinking of going overseas. Back on the 13th, they started a new reality program on cable TV Mnet’s ‘Boyfriend’s W Academy’and was captured learning English and Thai. With plans targeting the Asian region first.

“Like other groups, even if there is just one person, all of us are purely native and grew up in Seoul. We also want to study hard to be like other groups or better. Eversince last year, we do activities in Korea only, but we are already gaining overseas fans. We felt the power of K-POP. We will be the one who is taking the baton.”

We are lucky that we still have days where we can have breaks. I would want to return home and have a good rest.

“There’s a lot of wishes for this year. We’ve never got number 1 so we want to try to win 1st place, I also want an album or a mini-album. At the end of this year, we want to open our own concert and we hope our wishes will be fulfilled.”

▶ Personal wishes?
‘Boyfriend’ has a desire as a group but let’s also hear what their personal wishes are. Each of the members wants to say something in addition.

Donghyun “I want to participate in [making] an album. Like doing framework concepts or composing etc, I’m hoping the would let us participate.”

Kwangmin “I am a rapper, so I want to rap with what I have made myself. So far, any of those that were made, I want to start from this [upcoming] album. To do this, I’m going to work hard.”

Minwoo “Rather than a personal wish, as a member of Boyfriend, I want Boyfriend to do well. I hope we will have a proper album to show a better Boyfriend.”

Youngmin “I wish I could live long. I still have so much to say to the fans. Meet and eat and sleep and live well. I’ve been working hard and exercised, I hope I’ll grow up well.”

Jeongmin “I want to work out on my body. I don’t have enough muscles on my body so I want to exercise and have a [built] body. Fans also wants to see abs.”

Hyunseong “I want to be noticed more. I am not well known compared to the other members. Sometimes I’m upset. I’ve been avoiding the camera, but now I want to be more active [with cameras].”
